WATCH MY THESIS FILM!
Grace is interested in how smaller individual characters fit into the world around them, and a lot of their illustrations feature cats. Cats possess quiet, individual natures and the ability to stay committed to what they want, an embodiment of Grace’s idealised traits. Despite their size and tendency to be overlooked, cats can accomplish anything they put their mind to.
Their animated short film, “Magician”, delves into a fantastical and mythical world inspired by Chinese mythology. A tile cat protector lying dormant in the Huangshan mountains awakens. As Wamao ascends, he finds himself facing more powerful monsters and demons from Chinese mythos.
Just like how Wamao ascends in both the mountainscape and in his quest to prove himself, Grace hopes that we all can put our fears aside and achieve our dreams, to become brighter and braver versions of ourselves.
